FUTURE BRIEF POLL RESULTS:
The following questions were submitted by Future Brief readers. The poll, taken by a statistically-valid sample of more than 2000 adult Americans, was conducted by Zogby International, an opinion research firm, on December 15-16, 2005.

QUESTION: What effect do you feel that emerging technologies are having upon your personal safety/security?
RESULTS:
-Greatly increasing security 6%
-Somewhat increasing security 41%
-No effect—we have exactly the same level of security that we did ten years ago. 15%
-Somewhat decreasing personal security 24%
-Greatly decreasing security 10%
-Not sure/other 4%
(Margin of error is +/- 2.2%)
Overall, 47% of respondants felt that emerging technologies are increasing their sense of safety, while 34% of respondants felt that emerging technologies are reducing their safety. 19% of respondants felt that emerging technologies are having no effect on their level of safety or else had no opinion.
