FUTURE BRIEF POLL RESULTS:
The following questions were submitted by Future Brief readers. The poll, taken by a statistically-valid sample of more than 2000 adult Americans, was conducted by Zogby International, an opinion research firm, on December 15-16, 2005.
QUESTION: What effect do you feel that emerging technologies are having upon personal privacy?
RESULTS:
-Greatly increasing privacy 2%
-Somewhat increasing privacy 5%
-No effect—we have exactly the same level of privacy that we did ten years ago. 7%
-Somewhat decreasing personal privacy 44%
-Greatly decreasing privacy 40%
-Not sure/other 2%
(Margin of error is +/- 2.2%)

Overall, 7% of respondants felt that emerging technologies are increasing their sense of personal privacy, while 84% of respondants felt that emerging technologies are reducing their personal privacy. 9% of respondants either felt that emerging technologies were not having any effect on their level of privacy or simply had no opinion.
